HRDA is currently assisting the Solomon Islands Ministry of Health and Medical Services to review the achievements of the last National Health Strategic Plan 2016-20, which has now been extended to 2021, and to make recommendations for the next one, which will run from 2021-2026. We are working with three national consultants – Dr George Malefoasi, Cliff Bird and Ethel Sigimanu – coordinated by Louisa Fakaia from the Ministry. The review is supported with funding by the WHO Solomon Islands Country Office and Ministry resources.
Past achievements are being reviewed through the Health Information System, document review and interviews of informants selected from senior executives, middle and program managers and their staff groups, and the general community. The national consultants are travelling to the Provinces in September with Louisa to conduct interviews and gain impressions from site visits.
The review and recommendations will be completed by the end of October 2020 and the next NHSP 2021-26 will be completed soon after.
